For years, I toyed with creating an empowering blog for the curvier woman because I kept coming across blogs that were either laden with nothing but fashion & bling or saturated with lengthy, I hate myself because I’m fat diatribes. Neither applies to me; although I like fashion and looking good, I’m not a slave to it and I definitely don’t hate myself.
I was looking for a well-balanced publication that spoke to intelligent, strong, confident women who happen to fall somewhere between Beyonce and Oprah (vintage 1983) and I couldn’t quite find it. Being a firm believer in if you can’t find what you are looking for, create your own, that’s exactly what I did and I hope you will experience Fluffylicious as a superb crossroads of intelligence, fashion, self-love, and passion.
Fluffylicious is meant to be fun, informative, intellectually stimulating, and entertaining. It is a CELEBRATION of the fuller woman –not a fat-acceptance blog although I definitely promote BODY acceptance. Whether you are fat, bald (guys), short, gap-toothed, pre-maturely gray, acne ridden, flat chested, or lazy-eyed, whether you have big feet, thin lips, fat fingers, buck teeth, a crooked nose, a slanty smile, or a flat booty –I believe you should love yourself and be happy being in the body you are in.
But here, at Fluffylicious, we don’t think you should spend one more minute justifying who you are just because your fat. We don’t think you should spend one more second feeling bad about yourself. The truth is, there are a zillion worse things in the world than being fat. And frankly, between you and me, once you kick you that ole unrealistic, new-fangled, standard of beauty (perpetuated by gay men in the fashion industry) to the curb, you’ll find that being fat, actually, ain’t all that bad.
At Fluffylicious, we are single, married, mothers, daughters, sisters, gay, straight, artist, teachers, musicians, lawyers, lovers, activist, playwrights, politicians, actresses, professors, filmmakers, novelist, doctors –we are EVERYWOMAN. We live full, vivacious, exciting, charismatic lives and we look great doing it. We are UNAPOLOGETIC, creative, savvy, smart-ass, witty, hilarious, bold, self-assured, open, and endearing.
You won’t find ANY mention of weight-loss diets. EVER. (or I’ll eat my rainboots). You won’t find any woe-is-me-I’m-fat, why won’t they accept me articles. Cuz, frankly, we don’t give a damn, we are too busy living our lives to be worried about such nonsense. What you will find are true stories on life, love, sex, goals, pain, joy, and other real life experiences. And, if you aren’t quite there yet, in terms of loving your feisty, flirty, fabulous, fat self –stick with us kid, you will be! PROMISE.
This publication simply shines a light on Fluffy Women living, loving, and doing great things…women who love themselves, who are grounded, and have strong voices that inspire others to greatness.
